The 485 course is designed for students who are interested in learning about the process of collecting research with children and families. This course will provide students with introductory research skills in data collection and data entry as well as skills in using statistical software such as SPSS. Undergraduate 485 Research Assistants will assist a team of graduate students in the implementation of the study in the following capacity:

  • Collecting school-based data with children, parents, and teachers when applicable
  • Data entry and preliminary data analyses
  • Opportunity to present collaborative research project with advanced graduate student at national or regional conferences

485 Eligibility

  • Undergraduate student at Texas A&M University
  • At least Sophomore status in good academic standing
  • Preference will be given to students who can commit to more than one semester

485 RA Requirements:

  1. 1. 485’s must complete the CITI training IRB training session on human subjects, data collection and data entry training, and a weekly supervision meeting, usually in the evening (1-3 hours).
    2. 485 RA’s will be asked to work approximately 9 hours a week collecting or entering data or assisting the Research Team members in completing study goals
